Show Some Beauty
Broadway. Classical Music. Sondheim. Shakespeare. Nyro. Bernstein. Steve Marzullo is a composer who has been influenced by all those sources. A little bit Broadway, a little bit pop, a little bit classical and a whole lot of unique artistry come together to make his works unclassifiable. He is a singular artist- who, like the best crysal prisms, allows the light of creativity to go through him and create music that illuminates and could not originate from any other source. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Marzullo has been working steadily on Broadway since GRIND. He was the musical director of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND and was handpicked by Stephen Sondheim to play piano on the recording UNSUNG SONDHEIM. He's worked on Broadway shows from FLOYD COLLINS to MAMMA MIA to SEUSSICAL to the all star conerts of DREAMGIRLS and FUNNY GIRL to being the pianist for the Disney films BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and ALADDIN. As a musical director he has worked with a who's who of theatre royalty- Christine Ebersole, Andrea Martin, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Lillias White, Alice Ripley, Melissa Manchester, Judy Blazer and more. He is the composer of the song SOME DAYS, which has been recorded and performed by multiple Tony Award winner Audra McDonald. McDonald has also recorded his songs "Burning the Sauce" and "I Hid My Love." He was one of the composers for the musicals SONGS FOR AN UNMADE BED and THE AUDIENCE and he's had songs recorded by Stephanie J. Block, Andrea Burns and Rebecca Luker. He is also the composer of the musical JOYCE JACKSON'S GUIDE TO DATING.
